Parks offer get fit activities

Beach RunningFinding it hard to stick to your New Year’s resolution to get fit and health already? Well several organised activities at parks across the country could make it easier to get out and about.

This weekend, Green Flag Award parks have set up a walk in Cheshire from Rock Park to Wigg Island.

And ramblers in the West Midlands can take part in a bird walk later in the month, while an archery event has been organised art Summerhill in the Tees Valley.

All Green Flag Award parks are free and provide an alternative to gyms to take part in all kinds of exercise from jogging, cycling to a gentle stroll.

Paul Todd, manager of the Green Flag Award Scheme, said: “As we enter a new decade, it’s time for us all to make the effort to get fit and there’s no better place to do this than in a Green Flag award-winning park or green space. ”
