Host in marathon charity challenge

MarathonA CBeebies presenter has vowed to run this year’s London Marathon in aid of a children’s charity.

Alex Winters, from South Wales, decided to take part in the 26 mile race on April 25 to help raise awareness and funds for Caudwell Children’s UK Autism Initiative.

The project provides a range of treatments and therapies to help transform the lives of youngsters with autism.

The host, who joined the children’s TV channel in January last year, is the first person to run the marathon in aid of the charity.

He said: “I just thought it was the perfect opportunity to help.

“The London Marathon is something I’ve always wanted to do and as a youngster I was quite sporty, so I’m really excited to be taking on the challenge and hope we can raise enough money to make a real difference.”

Alex will also be running the race with his wife Joanne, producer Adam Redfern and friend Zachary Thomas.
